Subject: [imps] Across-the-back-silencers
Hi all,
Upon my travels, I ended up in a traffic jam stuck behind a Volvo 240 Estate (as you do). It dawned on my that the rear silencer box was tubular with a 90 degree bend on the input pipe, plus a 90 degree bend at the outlet, making it an ideal silencer for use with a combined inlet/exhaust manifold.
My only worry is the heat aspect, ie whether the Volvo pipe is going to be thick enough to withstand the heat from the engine.
Any thoughts? It would certainly be a cheaper solution than the usual Aston Martin box.
Happy New Year,
Tim

It's Aluminiumised and very heavy , it lasts about 4 years on the Volvo being triple skinned .
The Actual silencer has a 3 inch long stub at each end straight on , the inlet pipe and tail pipe are separate items ...
It's a straight through silencer . However i feel it's a bit big for an imp in diameter especially i have thought about this before ... 6.5 inches diameter .
However .... i had one across the rear of my IMP powered go kart for 15 years, it did a great job of silencing ...
