Subject: [imps] Spigot bushes on 930 engines
I have a 930 engine one of my cars which retains the sunbeam crank but uses a modified Imp flywheel, mainly because I happen to have such a thing. I have one small difficulty - the spigot bush.
As many will know, the hole in the end of the sunbeam crank is larger than the Imp, so I have a second bush to fill the gap so I can use an Imp bush.
The problem is that with the sunbeam crank also being longer, the spigot bush is too long and has to have about 40% of its length cut off otherwise the engine won't bolt to the bellhousing. I am convinced that cutting the bush leads to it disintegrating (see my post in the 'gearbox' thread).
Can anyone offer a better solution, other than using an Imp crank?
BTW does anyone know the exact capacity of the '930' engine to the nearest cc as I don't know the bore so cannot work it out.
Ta
Mark

I was going to sugest turn the turning the input shaft down then heat shrinking a steel sleeve on it but it occurred to me that it wouldn't go through the hole in the clutch driven plate.
It would be easier just to turn a bush from bar stock -- which raises the question can 'Oiltite' be bought in bars ? if not bearing brass should be OK.

Hi Mark,
Have you spoken to Colin Cashmore about this.... I believe he fits a sleeved bush on his coversions. May be worth a call.......
Cheers,
