Hey all,
I know where there are some BRAND NEW Hillman Imp doors, not sure if mk1 or mk2 but I think they are the same ( can someone please tell me). They are unpainted but still have the protection film on them.
Cost is around $130 New Zealand

Early and late doors are certainly not the same, they changed the locks and the shape of the back edge. I think this change occurred late 1968, at the same time as the Speedo binnacle disappeared. Mk1 & MK2 - well it depends what that means - they could both be early ones - BUT -- I think even then there may be differences - I've heard of door handle holes being in different places. It may not matter if you change the whole door (except for originality) but it does if you fit a new skin, things don't match! Early and late doors are not interchangeable because the door pillar was also changed

I know the lock edge is different on Sunbeam, but mk1 and mk2 Hillman doors are the same I think

Hi all, Sunbeam and some Hillman Imps took on a new look 1968/1969. ie a nice aluminium panel with the name embossed on it was fitted across the front of the car. Now the first few still had some features from the earlier car and I believe the door design was one of these but part way through the short run of this particular Sunbeam Sport with this panel before they went to four headlights they changed the door design across the board. I have found that Australian assembled Hillman Hunter door lock assemblies are identical and interchangeable with 69 Imps so I presume that English Hunters would be the same. The door shut and B pillar shapes were changed and subsequently the doors are not interchangeable from 69 on.

All,
This all depends on your definition of Mk1 and Mk2. The change from Mk1 to Mk2 took place in 1965 and the doors were unchanged. In 1968 the whole Imp range was given a facelift with the deletion of the binnacle type instrument, this is sometimes referred to as the Mk3. It was at this time that the doors and the B posts were changed. It is not possible to use a Mk2 door on a Mk3 and vice versa.
The Mk3 doors used different inner panel and different skin panels so not even a part door can be used. The difference for the skin panel is that the door handle holes are in a different location - close but different. The moral is to be very careful when specifying or buying these parts.
Hope this has helped to clarify the situation.

Hi
Easier to fill-in and recut a couple of door-handle holes, than to repair rust....
Cheers

Paul,
There are 3 I think, 2 left and 1 right. I can't remember.
I saw them in a shop a while back. I know they are still there, justcan't remember numbers, but if interested I will do a definite check.
