Would anybody be interested in getting a run of polyurethane rear engine mountings manufactured? Min of 50, I do not have the price as of yet.

Please let me know

Hi all,

I have just spoken to a guy at Supaflex.......
he has told me that somebody from the club has already sent them a sample for a quotation about a week ago.

Does anybody know who is organising this. It is not apparently Malcolm Anderson.

Perhaps it is the Sozanski's or Perhaps Bob Allan

Bye then.

I'd have two, so long as the cost isn't ridiculous.... maybe the club spares area would take a few to get the numbers up?

No , honestly if you mean those hard yellow bushes then there is going to be a lot of harshness at the rear ... engine mounts need to be soft ...

The Hard Yellow bushes can also be Soft yellow bushes it depends how they blend the polyurethane!!

Also what happened to your 998 pistons that Malcolm has in his workshop??

Probably Tim Morgan who has just joined the committee to do just this job in conjunction with Bob Allan. Tim has just moved to our area so I am in contact with him.

Roger,

Yep the guy at Supaflex said that he had the samples from Bob Allan. They will be a delay in the quote while he collects more items to cut down on postage to send to Oz where Supaflex has its manufacturing base.

I will be moving down to the Poole/Bournemouth Area in a week to start a course at Bournemouth University........are any of you coollisters from this area I know that Tim Morgan has just moved away from this area but loads of people have said there is a good, active and friendly area centre in the Poole area which I hope to attend. I currently live a bit far from 4 area centres at the mo so don't attend them often.

see yer

Ps any news on the second hand rear engines mount (UK only) Thanks for the offer of a Nz part but it will take tooo long an cost tooooooo much!!

O.K. Here's a bit more information about the alternative mounts.

The landrover discovery (and the older defender, I think) have suspension bushes which are slightly smaller than the Imp ones. Clark says you can sleeve them in a piece of metal tube and they will fit. I think he said they were called 'Silent bushes'

He also says that Micra ones look about the same size and would probably fit.

Escort and Orion engine mounts are a slightly different shape - I think more oval than round - but he says they could be modified if you were desperate.

Also he has details of a company were you can order suitable ones, but he's going to have to dig out the details. I'll mail those when he finds them.

Hope this is some use,

Anne

Hi Anne

The traditional British brand of such bushes is "Silentbloc".
