I don't recall him ever coming to NZ to race, but the name of Stormin' Norman was certainly heard of here. I didn't know he had raced Imps though - I think he might have driven a Chrysler Charger E38 to 2nd at Bathurst in '72?

It's all a bit before my time, and not something well documented, at least in my library. Stormin' Norman was twice Australian Touring Car Champion, but never in the Imp. When I was a kid, the Beechey Imp was spoken of here in the same sort of hushed tones New Zealanders use when speaking of Jim Richards and the Sidchrome Imp.
A few years back I was running my Imp at a meeting where Pete Geoghegan (5 times champ) was racing a Mustang. I had been watching the great man from afar over the weekend. Late on the Sunday he came over and told me how much he liked my car. All I could do was gawp in astonishment.
Someone later told me his soft spot for Imps would have had something to do with the days when he was racing against Beechey's Imp.
Can anyone out there fill us in on the history of this car?
