To Frank
In regards to your message re the "Sidchrome Imp", I purchased the car about 10 years ago and began to restore it back to it's original two tone colour scheme. The project was put on hold in `92 as I became interested in overseas travel.
Anyway to make a long story short I have been back in New Zealand for 6 years and at the start of this year , more so in the last 4 months I have started the restoration project { this time to finish}. The car is any getting a roll cage fitted and will be finished end of this month.
Then comes the painting and signwritting .
It will be painted back to it's original appearance as of '72 (yellow top with red bottom with the sidchrome spanners and the sidchrome man on bonnet).
I also have 2 other historic racing Imps in my collection both being raced since new , one being the Harrington Imp and the other being of lesser fame which raced in the 'Bank Wales' series, both these cars are going and raced .
Anyway time to go to my workshop
Regards Tony Mann.

Hi Franka
I remember Rory Harrington's Imp having a mighty blow-up at Pukekohe race circuit (former NZGP site.) He was about to overtake a Mini, pulling about 10K rpm in 3rd gear coming round 'the Hill', when the Mini dropped its oily insides all over the track. This caused the unfortunate Imp to go wheeee-BANG! after it pinned its 1200rpm tacho.
Cheers

It's funny how Volvo keeps popping up on the list, so here's another connection. Jim Richards, the driver of the Sidchrome Imp, is currently a works driver for Volvo in the Australian Super Touring Championship.

I think so. I remember Brian Patrick, who built the car, sent in a photo some time back.
