I have a complete Tecalemit Jackson fuel injection system to fit to my imp. What I need is info on setting the thing up. Can anyone help ?

I have an original set of instructions, a flow diagram and other bits of info on T.J. injection.

Are you the owner of the Skip Brown car, I only ask because an associate of mine claims to have driven the first fuel injected Skip Brown Imp.

I remember this system from 60s/70s. It was never very successful especially on Imps.
If I remember correctly the fueling is controlled by a cam -- to set it, you attack the cam with file, take too much off and you have to make a new cam.

It worked on racing cars , but there was no appreciable power advantage over a well set up pair of Weber carbs ...hence it's demise ...

It was never popular on racing cars (I believe it was originally developed for the Cortina Twincam). It seldom worked propery, particularly at low RPM. Even the best (Bosch) purely mechanical injection systems were temperamental in the 50s and 60s.

Alan Fraser used T.J. injection on his later Group 5 Imps and found it to be of some benefit, the cars became much smoother to drive.

Skip Brown also experimented with it, I'm told he developed it to a stage where it showed a substantial improvement over a brace of Webers.

It was also used on Viva's, E Types and some Lotus's.

T.J. in Plymouth offered a service where you could drive your 'standard' car into the workshop in the morning and drive out with the fuel injection fitted in the evening. Their workmanship was superb, the bracket that held the engine driven pump was a work of art in polished stainless steel.

If anyone needs any more info please contact me.

Yes i can imagine the work that went into the bracket alone ,
i spent the best part of a month in the 1980's cutting , filing , polishing a bracket to hold a Paxton supercharger to a Volvo B20 engine which was fitted in a Marcos ... it gave you that little extra incentive to get it looking nice ...
the thought of seeing it running .
I also spent two months just afterwards filing cutting etc a manifold flange for my Imp Turbo , it was 12 mm thick !

Talking of fuel injection , i used the Bosch K jetronic on my early turbo engine in 1984 with great effect . It was economical too , 38 mpg ...

A month to file a bracket, where were you, in jail and using a womans' emeryboard/ nailfile? If you are ever in the predicament again, send me a cardboard template and details and I could get it cut and drilled etc. Happy to oblige.
I still think you should put down some notes on how you did the injection and turbo stuff for the rest of us to mull over.

The Jetronic was the turning point the pre-jetronic Bosch system used by Mercedes from the early 50s to late 70s was a little bit temperamental once the car had a few miles on the clock it used to over fuel a low speeds.

yes, when i started my career, the Bosch electronic system had just appeared on the Volvo P1800E and later the 144GL it gave 135 bhp from the 2 litre cast iron push rod motor on a 10:1 compression ratio .

the problem was weak mixture and flat-spots after some mileage due to the injectors getting restricted , there was a mod to adjust the pressure sensor to increase the opening time of the injectors , this worked ok ..
