As with all clubs, The Imp Club relies on certain members to be more involved than the majority, members who are willing to give much of their spare time to the club. Once you undertake to hold a committee office, you'll find that it needs to become more than a passing interest: it takes enthusiasm to do it right. But your club needs you, so if you feel you can manage, take on a post and do your duty !
Be an active Club official and lead The Imp Club onwards !  ;-)

The club is what you make it...
There was an important task to be performed in the club. Four wellknown club members were involved: Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.
Everybody was first asked to carry out the task. Everybody was conviced that Somebody would do it, but in the end Nobody did it.
Somebody got most annoyed about this, because it was really Everybody's job. Everybody had thought Anybody would do it, but Nobody realised that Everybody wouldn't do it.
The final outcome was that Everybody blamed Somebody, when, in actual fact, Nobody had asked Anybody.

Librarian / Archivist

The archive used to be part of the Historical officer's job. It evolved into the separate function of Archivist, and the latest development is that the club has a Librarian annex Archivist.
They look after the archive material owned by the club: Impressions, Impromptu; Imp brochures; magazins with Imp articles within; service bulletins issued to dealers when the Imp was current; ...
The aim is that eventually all the material owned by the club will be held and catalogued by the Librarians. And it will be tried to make it more available.
As bibliographers, the aim to list all known material!!! and, if possible, to obtain at least a copy of or access to originals...

Historical Officer

It was decided on the AGM of January 1998 that the main role of this office should be in helping to sort out registration problems such as period numberplates dates of manufacture, etc.
The historical officer has to have detailed knowledge of things like production records, sales records, the people involved and so on. Therefore he must have (or acquire) access to the various sources involved, like the club's archive. He ought to network with people like Bob Allan and the Henshaw brothers, who may well have uncovered useful information.

Area Centre Co-ordinator

At the AGM of April 1991, it was decided to re-create this previously disbanded post. Three years before it had been integrated as part of the job of the Events Secretary. In 1988 there were 8 Area Centres, in 1991 there were 23.

1985: Richard Knight
1991 - 1992: Huw Crowther
1994 - now: Bob Jones

Area Centre Organisers

The position of Area Centre Organiser has an important part to play in the running of the club. A large percentage of the U.K. is covered by Area Centres, but there are gaps. If you think your area is not (sufficiently) covered, then consider setting up a centre. Contact the Area Centre Coordinator to get help. The club's computer database can supply you with addresses of Impers in your area who don't object to have their names & addresses be made available.
Area Centre Organisers have been known to attend Committee meetings. Though they are not strictly committee members, if reports should be made, they may be done either orally or in writing.

The same goes for the Model Registrars

The Registrars will help with questions about your car, its historical details and technical queries. If members send information about their car (model, chassis number, engine, registration number, etc.) to the relevant Registrar, the club can build up a record of members' cars.

IT Officers

At the committee meeting of September 2000, it was decided to add to the arsenal of committee members with a brand new office.

2000: Simon Trickett & Steve Brindle

Pocket expenses
Committee members do not get all costs covered, eg. petrol for attending meetings. Attending meetings is something that is done for the good of the club. If members agree to take an office on, they are expected to take care of such, too.

Graham Townsend: "Ever wondered what it takes to be a committee member and Imp owner ?"

  1. A few screws loose
  2. An understanding wife and/or parents
  3. Enthusiasm and spare time
  4. An ability to turn everyone else's criticisms into practical changes
  5. An ability to get one's backside out of the chair and do something about things one dislikes

This page is being made in honour of those members who have shown a lot of enthusiasm for the Imp and The Imp Club. So much so, that they have volunteered much of their time to be Club Officers. Without people putting in time and effort, there is no club for us to benefit from.
