These instructions are for fitting the mudflaps to the rear right-hand wing, those for the left-hand side are symmetrically opposite.
Jack up the car, support on stands and remove the rear road wheels.
Mark out and drill on 7/32 in. hole (5.8 mm. or No. 2 drill) at 'A', as shown in the illustration. Offer the midflap into postion, set the stiffener plate to conform to the contour of the body panel. Fit a screw with a plain washer under the head and lightly secure with a nut and spring washer at 'A'.
Now align the mudflap to ensure that it is parallel with the ground and also that the outer hole 'E' is located centrally in the wing flange.
Note:
It is recommended that sealing compound be applied between each stiffener plate and the body panel and also used to fill the cavity 'B'. Care should be taken when drilling the outer holes in the wing flange to ensure that each hole is central in the wing flange and that there is sufficient clearance for the nut.
Using the outer hole in the mudflap as a guide, drill hole 'E'. With the stiffener plate temporarily under the head of the screw, lightly attach the mudflap.
Re-align the mudflap and set the stiffener plate to follow the line of the wing flange.
Using the stiffener plate as a guide, drill hole 'F' through both mudflap and the wing flange. Now remove the screw 'E', place the stiffener plate into its final position between the mudflap and the wing flange, fit and secure screws 'E' and 'F'.
Finally, drill holes 'C' and 'D', fit the screws and securely tighten all fixings.
Note:
When drilling the body panel on the left-hand side, care must be taken not to let the drill run through and damage either the heater hose or the radiator bottom tank.
Apply paint or underseal where disturbed during fitting.
Refit the road wheels and unjack the car.
